About
Shore Acres State Park, Oregon is a carefully cropped snapshot of nature. Although talented in sweeping landscapes, White also possessed an interest in close-ups while documenting the various parks and other natural sites he visited. The zoomed-in nature of the photograph abstracts the original physical landform, and the image takes on a life of its own. After accepting a grant from the Centennial Commission to conduct a workshop in Portland, White began making annual cross country trips, oftentimes with assistants or students, and these journeys were fruitful both professionally and pedagogically.
