About
San Francisco is a jarring and energetic composition executed by White in 1951. A San Francisco taxicab which appears to be parked on the side of the road rests barely in front of a monstrous pile of paper scraps. Some of the scraps disappear into a dark puddle on the other side of the heap, creating a visual contrast as well as introducing another element of ominous chaos.
