About
One of Demuth’s fine still life watercolor paintings, this piece depicts a pile of perfectly ripe pears and plums overflowing from a glass bowl on to a draped white cloth. The fruit seems to glisten, making it appealing to the viewer. There is also a small vase with a single stem of red flowers in it, which is partially cut off at the top of the composition in favour of making the bowl of fruits absolutely central, again showing their desirablility.
