About
A Limier Briquet Hound is a portrait, painted from life in about 1856, of the hunting dog of a gentleman known as the Vicomte d’Armaille. It is one of many portraits of hunting dogs and pets produced by Bonheur. The hound is so realistic, the painting feels almost scientific, yet the artists are able to convey tangible energy in the dog through his legs and his eyes.
