About
This untitled and undated work is in large part consistent with Kline’s compositional trajectory, and in some ways a bit of an outlier. His highly restricted palette, using only black and white on paper, is a hallmark of his most popular style. Combined with his insistence on avoiding referents, marked by the work’s abstract form as well as lack of title and date, these elements of the work are immediately reminiscent of his oeuvre. This work does stand out, however, on account of its preference for large, organic, circular forms, in contrast to his well known quick linear brushstroke style.
