About
Study for Gumball Machine seamlessly falls into the vein of the Pop Art movement. Though Thiebaud is a self-described painter of realism, this still-life of a gumball machine falls close in line with Abstract Expressionist works of his time while the repetitive gumballs stuffed in the machine and the linear nature of the whole painting echoes the works of Pop Art.
