About
This is a painting of the church and asylum at Saint-Remy, France, where van Gogh voluntarily entered in 1889. He painted this as an autumn study; the natural fall colored scene takes up most of the image rather than the architecture of the buildings. Pops of yellow in the trees and haystack draw the eye from the overwhelming light blue and green colors.
