About
During van Gogh’s time in Paris, he experimented with pointillism, a technique that uses stippling to compose a scene. In this woodland scene, he uses ranging tonalities of greens mixed with a variety of subtle coloring to develop depth. In particular, the light yellows at the back of the composed image bring light to the composition and places a horizon line in the otherwise green image.
