About
This painting of a woman shearing a sheep is based on an engraving in a ten-part series based on the paintings of Jean-Francois Millet (1814-1875). He used these figures in place of physical models to avoid losing sight of the human figure. The painting particularly points to the woman in the light blue dress as the primary subject matter while the rest of the picture is in a yellow variation.
