About
One of van Gogh’s reoccurring themes is the depiction of peasant life. Here he worked on depicting the different stages of harvest and the labor involved. He painted these under the hot summer sun; still, He became incredibly productive in representing the field subject matter by creating ten paintings and five drawings in just over a week before harvest season came to an end after a heavy storm.
