About
Van Gogh was attracted to cypress trees for their dominance and dark colors. The trees seem to dwarf objects around them and assert their authority in the scene. Around the trees is a golden wheat field on the left and a curving distorted path with figures and a carriage on the right, the night sky above envelops the scene in an evening haze.
