About
This work was created in Nuenen just after he completed The Potato Eaters, each has similar color pallets. The dark green hues were described as “green soap” or “a really dusty potato, unpeeled, of course.” Nonetheless, he depicts a working-class woman, cooking by the fireplace, hunched over in dark clothes.
