About
Since arriving in Arles in February 1888, snow still covered the ground, which he sought to escape. In Provence noted the sun simplified forms and reduced the world to patterns just as he found in Japanese woodblock prints, which he admired. This landscape uses many bright colors and exciting angles, forms, and shapes that echo the Japanese prints he admired.
