About
This painting focuses on the method of painting rather than subject matter; he first painted the flowers and butterflies then filled the background afterward. He skillfully captures the moment of life through the budding, bloomed, and dying poppies and bright yellow butterflies, and focuses less on the background. While blue paint covers only portions of the background and even overlaps with parts of the green stems, he develops intricate detail in the foliage growing in the lower right corner.
