About
This busy still life is unique in that van Gogh never spoke about it in letters like he did other paintings. Art Historians have liked varying aspects of the painting to different periods in his career, although this distinct transformation of style link it firmly to the landscapes made before his death in 1890. He develops a chaotic still life with many-colored flowers and fines in a white pitcher, the base of which is covered in foliage.
