About
Van Gogh enjoyed painting summer scenes on the bank of the Seine outside Paris. Also, during this time, he experimented with Pointillism, though he merged the technique with his characteristic thick paint and broad brushstrokes. He captures the season's magical warm colors with the cooler tones of the water, sky, and trees to create this balanced composition.
