About
Vincent Van Gogh, one of history’s best-known artists, was known for his entrancing and melancholy landscapes. This swirling scene of a wheatfield mixes land, sky and vegetation to create a depiction of the famous cypresses in the south of France. Van Gogh was a patient at a mental hospital at the time this was painted, adding an anguished tone to the sweeping landscape.
