About
Kandinsky painted Dominant Curve while he was in France in 1936. It was an expression of his fascination with organic sciences, and experiments with themes of life, science, and spirituality. The center of the artwork seems to explode into action, movement, and organized chaos. Organic forms can be seen in the forms of the painting resembling microscopic creatures. Three small black and white circles are shown above a pink embryo. In addition, a green rectangular shape seems to contain organic forms resembling animals. This is combined with geometric forms, such as the planes resembling stairs, which could represent reaching to a higher spiritual level. The composition is completed with the inclusion of vibrant colors that represented human emotions and sought to immerse the viewer with all their senses.
