Blue is an abstract expression of a boat on waves. The image is made up of geometric shapes and curves that interact and form the composition. The waves can be seen through the curves in the center of the painting, with two planes that resemble a boat on top. This image interacts with other geometric shapes in the painting, as most components are connected through lines. On the top left, a circle represents the sun. Kandinsky uses pastel blue and red to highlight the different shapes and add to a sense of spatial depth to the composition.
