About
Accompanied Contrast depicts interconnected colored planes and smaller floating forms projected slightly from the canvas, and seemingly floating in the space. This was characteristic of his later works which included organic imagery and a lightening of the color palette. This painting in particular broke away from his usual rigid geometric forms and altered them to create a more dynamic and organic shape. Kandinsky used color to highlight the forms, bring emotion to the planes, and to show spatial depth to emphasize the interaction between the forms.
