About

This action-packed engraving is meant to depict the well-know Boston Massacre, an important event during the American fight for independence against the British. The “massacre” was more of a slightly violent street fight, wherein colonists were punished for their disloyalty to British Rule. However, this engraving follows subscribes to the sensationalized nature of the event, with several limp figures in the foreground bleeding out, obvious victims of the British red-coat attack. The smoke created by the British weaponry billows across the Boston square, adding to the sense of confusion and calamity.
