About
Here Picasso depicts a kiss with his final wife, Jacqueline Roque. The couple remained together for the last twenty years of Picasso’s life, and he created more works of her than any of his other muses. The relationship between the couple was different than relationships that Picasso had with any of his previous lovers, which is evident through the way that he replaces the erotic sensuality of previous works with tender companionship in depictions of Jacqueline. The Kiss is an expression of two people who have become one; the two abstracted faces seem to blend together to become one.
