About
Two Women Running on the Beach asserts itself in a post-war series of colossal figures with traditional religious connotations: a general reaction against the pre-war excesses and violent origins of Cubism and Expressionism. The vivid blues and the flowing hair of the women are anchored in their elongated, contorted yet supple limbs. There’s a sense of fullness that makes the viewer feel that this is how life must be lived: fast paced and continuously, while war must be abandoned.
