About
In the new Rayist style, adopted by Goncharova around 1912 shortly before painting this abstraction, the artist uses intersecting linear vectors of color to capture the refracting of light rays. Predominantly black and yellow forms collide, creating a splintering effect meant to evoke the play of light on a surface.
