About
This 1938 image of riverfront property in Portland is from early in White’s career, but indicative of some of his career-long interests. Documentary landscape photography can be seen throughout his oeuvre, heavily influenced by photographers such as Berenice Abbott and Alfred Stieglitz. The unique framing created by the iron bridge demonstrates White’s keen eye for composition and cropping.
