About
Another example of de Morgan’s use of allegory in her artwork, The Storm Spirits portrays three bold female figures who embody the natural forces of rain, thunder, and lightning. Rain in yellow to the right pours a vial of gushing rainwater; Lighting in red to the left spreads lightning over the valley with her right hand; Thunder flies in the middle draped by dark grey robes which merge into thunderclouds. In the far background, an unaffected area of tranquility is depicted, signifying hope in hectic times.
