About
This print of Cassatt’s showcases the range of techniques she used to create her art. In this case, the fine black outlines indicate drypoint etching, and the broader swaths of color in the clothing and background showcase her use of aquatint. Like many of her works in any medium, this scene captures the moment between a mother and her child as they play in the grass under the shade of the tree.
