About
Many of Cassatt’s paintings capture the everyday lives of contemporary women. In this summertime scene, a woman and a girl lean over the side of their small boat to get a closer look at the two ducks on the water floating by. Cassatt uses an exaggerated perspective to capture the small waves and reflections of the water around them, and with similar brushstrokes renders their beautifully delicate sundresses and hats.
