This portrait painting of Hymen, the ancient Greek god of marriage, was painted by the husband and wife team Thomas Wilmer Dewing and Marie Oakey Dewing. The background flowering vines were first painted across the entire surface by Marie Oakey Dewing, and then her husband painted atop the foilage the portrait of Hymen.
