About
Chagall was known for his works that featured two lovers, they often represented himself and the love of his life, his wife Bella Rosenfeld Chagall. Though they were both from Vitebsk, (now in Belarus), they met in St. Petersburg in 1909 and instantly fell in love. Her parents were opposed to her marrying an artist but the lovers prevailed and married in 1915.
