About
Taut Line represented Kandinsky’s later works, which were characterized by a general lightening of palette influenced by the time he spent in France and the artistic style of Surrealism. This composition focuses on a bold black line extending from the top left corner of the painting diagonally to the bottom right corner. Along the line, different shapes and form intersect the space which is highlighted by the darkened background shade. All these shades are focused around the line which draws the viewer’s attention to the extensions of the lines and shapes that it can form.
