About
Summit of Fuji Mountain is a woodblock print from the Ten Views of Fuji Series. Yoshida was an avid traveler, outdoorsman, and hiker, and he captured the beauty of various scenes through these prints. He took inspiration from 19th-century European watercolorists and added Japanese traditional ink painting techniques to depict scenes of nature. This print depicts hikers sitting on the hiking trail of Fuji Mountain and resting on the edge of the mountain. Mist and clouds cover the view of the landscape, and only the rock formations of the mountain are shown. Yoshida uses this view to emphasize human interaction with nature and alludes to his passion for hiking and camping to capture the beautiful landscape views.
