About
Mount Rainier is one of the six woodblock prints from Yoshida’s North American Series. Yoshida was an avid outdoorsman and hiker. The North American series captured the beautiful North American landscapes that he saw during his travels. This print depicts Mount Rainier during the spring. The cool tones of the mountain, trees, and water contrast the vibrant warm colors of the flowers that have begun to bloom next to the water source. Yoshida layered the natural forms to create a sense of depth. The mountain can be seen in the background but also in the reflection of the water, creating a sense of balance and serenity.
