About
Glittering Sea is one of the woodblock prints from Yoshida’s Inland Sea Series. Yoshida was an avid traveler, outdoorsman, and hiker, and he captured the beauty of various scenes through these prints. This print depicts boats in a vast ocean. The ocean reflects the light of the setting sun which creates a glittering effect. Yoshida captures the beauty of the reflection of light and the boats and seamlessly blends it into the waves of the ocean. The clearly defined horizon line separates the sea from the sky, however, the color of the sea echoes the sky and balances the composition.
