Fuji Mountain in Autumn is a woodblock print from the Ten Views of Fuji Series. Yoshida was an avid traveler, outdoorsman, and hiker, and he captured the beauty of various scenes through these prints. He took inspiration from 19th-century European watercolorists and added Japanese traditional ink painting techniques to depict scenes of nature. This print depicts workers collecting hay in a field. Behind him, there is a small house surrounded by orange, yellow, and red trees. The color of the trees indicates the Fall season. The mist in the background covers the bottom of the mountain but the peak of the mountain is shown peeking through the gray mist. Yoshida uses this view to emphasize human interaction with nature and the beauty of Japan in countryside villages.
