About
Hilma af Klint’s self-portrait is unique in its style. It is unlike her famous abstractionist art in so far as is seems to hold little to no religious meaning. The artist has painted herself using her traditional color palette of blue and yellow, colors she often used to depict gender. The background and the undertone of the painting are blue, however, there is a subtle yet effective yellow sheen on Hilma Af Klint’s forehead. The artist looks forlorn wears a white robe with a blue color. She carries her hair in a bun and, as photographic portraits would indicate, has depicted her self accurately.
