About
This is an impressionist oil painting depicting the shore in Normandy, France. This was painted while Woodruff was living in Paris, where he was inspired by artists that he met there. The foreground of the painting consists of small branches growing out of the sand. In the background, he depicts the sea and Normandy’s curved shoreline. Using small brushstrokes, he paints the sea and soil, showing the reflection of light on nature. Long brushstrokes delineate the upright branches.
