About
In contrast with O'Keeffe's more common floral works, this painting depicts a bouquet of yellow jonquils as a bouquet, rather than a single flowers. The flowers are the central motif of the painting, canary yellow spathes and their foliage emerging from its entanglement. Hues of pale green define the folds of the foliage and contrast the jonquils' yellow spadices. A pale gray background further accentuates the blooms, likening the flowers to a bright pulse of light.
