About
Based on an aerial view O'Keeffe encountered on her travels by airplane, this painting is one of her more abstract representations of nature. Based on stark differences in the imagery, two distinct pictoral spaces can be observed in this composition. The top half of the canvas comprises gradients of azure, slate, and sky blue, all combined with sweeping brushstrokes. A nearly solid dark rectangle encompasses the bottom of the canvas, its clean edge cropping the blue sky.
