About
This oil painting is an example of O’Keeffe’s unique representation of enlarged flowers, a stylistic combination between abstraction and precisionism. Set against a background of blue, two poppy flowers take up the majority of the canvas, a white one partically obscured by a peach one. The details of their deep purple and crimson stamens and stigma and smooth tonal gradations of their petals are characteristic of O’Keeffe’s floral work.
