About
This painting exemplifies O'Keeffe's unique painting technique: a style at the crux of precisionism and abstraction. This shanty was O'Keeffe's art studio while she spent time at the famil estate of her husband Alfred Steiglitzher in New York Adirondacks. O'Keeffe painted this in order to, "paint one of those dismal-colored paintings like the men…just for fun." A dark burgundy structure sits on a field of yellow grass at the center of the painting, flanked by rich green trees. Deep teal mountains that kiss the white and silvery clouds in the blue sky are visible in the background.
