About
One of O’Keeffe’s more abstract compositions, this image depicts a clusturing of canyons in their most elemental forms: as an interaction of triangles. The red canyons span the canvas edge to edge. Distant mountains, a pink sky, and a white sun in the background are confined to the top of the composition. A flat, sandy terrain in the foreground alludes to the arid climate of the American southwest, the landscape from which this painting was likely inspired.
