About
Bellows' The White Fence differs greatly from his usual paintings. It looks almost as though it was inspired by Van Gogh with the bold brush strokes and the rolling composition of the hills in this scene. The vibrant color choice is also unique for Bellows, and indicate that its fall. He cuts the composition of the painting in half with the distinct white fence, which also named the painting.
