About
The studio is a domestic scene painted by Bellow of what appears to be his home. He paints himself talking to his wife while his two young girls, Anne and Jean play on the floor. Two figures who appear to be staff sit in the background chatting. This painting’s unique perspective makes the viewer feel as though the face of the studio has been removed and the whole house is open to the street. His interest in domestic life amplified when he began his family. His beloved ones became the primary subject of his later paintings.
