About
George Bellows paints a crowded riverside, mobbed with half-naked and fully naked people in Riverfront No. 1. A dock heads towards to water from the top right corner of the painting, giving the dock a sense of grandeur. The end of the dock leads the eye towards a boat which can be seen passing in the background. All the city’s residents have flocked to fill the dock and beach on the riverfront on a hot day.
