About
Broken Forms depicts colorful planes and organic shapes in motion and interacting with one another. This artwork contrasts with his other work as it is almost completely an abstract work and is not based on any physical reality, instead it focuses on form and color. His use of primary color represents human nature symbolizing the balance of femininity, masculinity, joy, sadness, and violence. Moreover, this artwork represents Marc’s inner thoughts and worries about the looming World War I. This idea is reflected by the dark clouds in the horizon and the incoming clouds of red in the top left, as red represented violence in his color theory.
