About
Despacha, que dispiertan. (Be quick, they are waking up.) is one of the eighty prints in Goya’s 1799 ‘Los Caprichos’ series of aquatint etchings which aimed to condemn the society in which he lived. This etching is the 78th one in the series, as evident by the written number in the top right. Depicted are three figures in a kitchen setting, one in the background stoking a fire while a woman with a broom whispers in the ear of the man at the table.
