About
Al Conde Palatino. (To the Count Palatine [or] Count of the Palate]) is one of the eighty prints in Goya’s 1799 ‘Los Caprichos’ series of aquatint etchings which aimed to condemn the society in which he lived. This etching is the 33rd one in the series, as evident by the written number in the top right. Two drunkards in a bar bend over, overcome by the amounts of alcohol which they have consumed. One is seen vomiting with his hand on his face while the other slumps over in a chair. The bartender watches at the bar, wiping a glass.
