About
Tiger and Snake is an oil painting by Eugne Delacroix. This painting depicts a tiger in a position of attack, looking at a snake behind a bush. The snake has its mouth open, ready to bite the tiger. This intense scene between two animals is placed on a hill. The green scene makes the tiger stand out to the viewer in contrast to the snake. Delacroix used small brushstrokes to capture the naturalistic scene. He focused on the details of the tiger’s fur, the leaves, and the grass to create an image of tension.
