About
The Wild Boar Hunt, after a painting by Rubens, is an oil painting by Eugne Delacroix. This painting was inspired by 17th-century painting by Peter Paul Rubens and is almost a replica of the earlier painting. It depicts men that are surrounding a wild boar. They have tied ropes around the boar and are pulling it in a direction. On the bottom right corner, other men ride in on horses to assist with the hunt. The bottom of the painting reveals other animals that are used to track down the boar. This scene of violence takes place in an otherwise serene landscape setting. A glimpse of the forest and open field is seen on the top right corner. Sunlight shines in from the corner to illuminate the scene.
